Calving is a key moment in the life of the farm. Zalliant has created a particularly innovative and effective solution to optimize monitoring with peace of mind. With Calving Monitor, texts or emails are sent to alert that a particular cow is beginning to calve. This will enable monitoring of calving and timely intervention if needed. It will improve results with more live calves and fewer post-partum complications.
The Calving Monitor is a vaginal thermometer fitted with inserts to facilitate its retention until the calf pushes it out. It measures temperature and sends alerts with the time and cow ID to those designated on the account.

Accuracy of the detection
The thermometer is expelled with the amniotic sac as the cow begins Stage 2 of calving. An alert is sent indicating cow identification and time of device expulsion. Those receiving the alert can make precise decisions as to when intervention is needed to make the calving process secure and to administer aid to the calf as quickly as possible. The alerts can be sent via text or email and scheduled as determined by management.
Simplicity of use
Insertion of the thermometer is easy and can be done by yourself. Once the thermometer is in place all you have to do is to wait for the alerts.
