Small Bolus
Neonatal calves are very susceptible to disease challenges. They are born with very limited immune capacity to fight disease. Temperature is a good indicator of health challenges. The small bolus is a temperature monitoring system for neonatal calves. It is sized such that it can be easily inserted into a new born calf via an applicator generally used to give medication.
Once swallowed, the bolus will remain in the recticulo-rumen. The sensor stores information and transmits data every 30 minutes. Alerts are sent when the temperature is outside defined parameters.
